To Redeem Your Scholarship

If you can’t remember which scholarship you were awarded, refer to your award letter or contact us.
If already you know the program you’d like to register for, please contact us and we’ll get you registered (subject to availability). You’ll receive an email confirmation with additional information once you’ve been registered.
If you don’t know what program you’d like to register for yet, you can review our current list of programs here.
Please note:
- If you’d like some help in deciding which program is best suited for you, please reach out to a Program Ambassador.
- All in-person programs and most online programs for 2025 are now listed on our website. If the one you need to take is marked sold out, please contact us.
- If you plan to attend an in-person workshop or retreat, check out our website for details about visiting our campus.
- If you received a travel stipend with your award, you can review the guidelines for putting it to use in your original scholarship award email. If you have any questions, contact us.
- You have until September 1, 2025 to select the program you’d like to attend (program dates can be any time in 2025).

When you’ve found dates you’d prefer, please contact us and we’ll get you registered (subject to availability). You’ll receive an email confirmation with additional information once you’ve been registered.

- If you received a travel stipend with your award, you can review the guidelines for putting it to use in your original scholarship award email. If you have any questions, contact us.
- You have until September 1, 2025 to select the dates you’d like to come for a Personal Retreat (attendance dates can be any time in 2025).
As a Whole Novel Scholarship recipient, you do not need to apply for a Whole Novel program. Your acceptance is already confirmed, and you can register as long as there is space available in the program.
If already you know the Whole Novel workshop you’d like to register for, please contact us and we’ll get you registered (subject to availability). You’ll receive an email confirmation with additional information once you’ve been registered.

Please note:

- There are different deadline dates for different Whole Novel Programs. Please read carefully:
- For attendance at the Whole Novel Online course starting in May, you must contact us to register by March 24.
- For attendance at the August Whole Novel In-Person Retreat, you must contact us to register by June 3.
- For attendance at the Whole Novel Genre Online course starting in October, you must contact us to register by August 27.
- For attendance at the October Whole Novel In-Person Retreat, you must contact us to register by September 1.

How do I sign up for a workshop using my scholarship?
Please refer to the instructions above.
How long do I have to use my scholarship?
Scholarships should be used by September 1, 2025. This means you should be registered for a workshop/retreat by that date, though the event dates can be after September 1.
What if I can't use the scholarship I was awarded?
Contact us to tell us your needs and discuss options.
I was awarded a full scholarship to a workshop/program. Can I use this for a Whole Novel workshop?
You can use it toward a Whole Novel workshop, but it will not cover the full cost. You will also still need to apply for the Whole Novel Workshop. Contact us for options.
What if the program I want to take is full?
In most cases, we cannot reserve spots for scholarship recipients in our workshops, so please register early. If the one you want to take is full, contact us to be added to the waiting list and/or learn about your options.
Is travel included in my scholarship?
A limited number of travel stipends were awarded this year. Your original award notification would have included this information. If you did not receive a travel stipend, travel costs are not included in your scholarship. Contact us if you have a question.

The Highlights Foundation will be distributing a press release and posting scholarship news on social media in mid-April. Feel free to share those posts when they’re released, or make a post on your own whenever you’re ready. You can send the press release to local news outlets, if you’d like.
