Kelly Light

Kelly Light lives in New York but grew up down the shore in New Jersey surrounded by giant pink dinosaurs, cotton candy colors, and Skee-Ball sounds. She was schooled on Saturday-morning cartoons and Sunday funny pages. She picked up a pencil, started drawing, and never stopped.

She is the author/Illustrator of the Louise series, including Louise Loves Art and Louise and Andie, The Art of Friendship. She has also illustrated Elvis and the Underdogs and Elvis and the Underdogs: Secrets, Secret Service, and Room Service by Jenny Lee, and The Quirks series by Erin Soderberg.

Kelly is proud to be an International Ambassador of Creativity for The Chuck Jones Center for Creativity!  The Center is a non-profit founded by Chuck Jones, the animator, artist and director.

“I made a goal to complete a picture book I have been working on for 5 years, maybe even more I will admit, and I accomplished that goal with help from this course, and the amazing instruction from Courtney [Pippin-Mathur] and Kelly [Light].”

Visiting Our Campus

Our campus (The Barn at Boyds Mills) is tucked away in the foothills of the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania.  It's a few hours from both New York City and Philadelphia, but worlds away from everyday life.
