A love for language, literature, art, and children drew Tracy to children’s publishing. She is passionate about being part of a mission-driven company and has been making books at Scholastic for over thirty years. Her focus is on picture books, middle-grade fiction, and graphic novels.
She is especially dedicated to discovering new talent, nurturing creatives over time, and building careers. She has worked with Pam Muñoz Ryan and Brian Selznick since the beginning of their careers and published their landmark books, Esperanza Rising and The Invention of Hugo Cabret respectively. She has been fortunate to work with and learn from such legendary creators as Mary Pope Osborne, Julius Lester, Karen Hesse, Jim Murphy, Avi, Christopher Myers, and Peter Sís.
Beloved authors and artists with whom she works include: Christina Soontornvat, Betty C. Tang, Ann Clare LeZotte, C.C. Harrington, Aida Salazar, Ann E. Burg, Barbara Kerley, Molly Mendoza, Joe Cepeda, Hanna Cha, and Ross Burach. Books she’s edited have been #1 New York Times bestsellers and have been recognized with Newbery, Caldecott, Pura Belpré, Coretta Scott King, Schneider, Sibert, Kirkus Prize, and National Book Award medals and/or honors. Outside of work, she is a devoted yogini and love long, leisurely dinner conversation; family dance parties; and hiking in the Adirondacks with her husband, three children, and very large, loveable dog.
