Learn all about the art of biography—from picture books to chapter books to magazine articles—with award-winning authors Candace Fleming and Robert Burleigh and Calkins Creek Book editor Carolyn P. Yoder. The workshop will feature lectures on picture book and chapter-book biographies, working with an editor, writing for magazines, and marketing your work, as well as faculty readings and one-on-one critiques. Once approved for the class, attendees will be invited to submit either a picture-book biography, the first three chapters of a longer biography (3,000 words total), a magazine article, or a book proposal.
The workshop will cover all aspects of biography writing from research, to writing, to rewriting, to working with an editor to marketing.
