From Prose to Picture to Published: Writing a Marketable Picture Book 2014 | October 31 – November 2

Whether a picture book is written in rhyming or traditional prose, one of the key components to success is weaving in lyrical, expressive language. Join Candace Fleming, winner of the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award, and Eric Rohmann, winner of the Caldecott Medal, as they guide you through the process of creating a sellable picture book. You can look forward to one-on-one critiques with faculty members; applicable writing exercises and hands-on revision practice; workshopping with your peers; and discussions that delve into page turns, leaving room for the illustrator, creating kid-friendly prose, the publishing market. You’ll leave the workshop with a clear understanding of what makes a picture book.
