Fairy Tales Revisited 2013 | August 24 – August 28, 2013

Fairy tales have inspired writers since they were first recorded. You’ll explore ways to harness their enduring appeal in your own versions. We’ll work with fairy tales on both the light and dark sides, with their implied morality, their treatment of animals, the time gap between when they emerged and now, their relationship to historical fiction, and their odd logic. And we won’t forget that fairy tales demand from us the same level of writing as any other form of fiction, so the focus will always be on craft. You’ll hear talks, have prompts and time to write, plus participate in group and individual discussion of the work you produce.
