Connecting Source to Story: Mining the World for Your Fiction 2018 | June 14 – June 17, 2018

Writers of historical, contemporary, or speculative fiction: Join Ashley Hope Pérez for a look into the authentic sources for fiction.

Are you interested in more authentically incorporating the lived experiences of people from varied cultures, communities, and time periods? Do you want to discover fresh ways into all kinds of stories, whether you write historical, contemporary, or speculative fiction? Would you like to see story seeds in everything from a family photograph to that article on biodiversity you read in the dentist’s waiting room?

This workshop with Ashley Hope Pérez and special guests focuses on finding sources for fiction everywhere—and using them to jumpstart and deepen your fiction. Ideal for fiction writers at any stage, the workshop focuses on generative practices that make exploration and research an organic and inspiring part of the writing process.
