Yesenia Flores Diaz
Yesenia Flores Díaz credits her parents and elementary school librarian for cultivating a love of reading. She won the 2016 Brooklyn Non-Fiction Prize for her essay, Abuela My Redeemer. Her short story, Don’t Call Me Nena, was selected as first place winner in the 2017 Montgomery Writes! Fiction Contest. She is a two-time alumna of the VONA Voices memoir writing workshop and a past participant of AWP’s Writer-to-Writer mentoring program. Yesenia is grateful for generous support received from the Highlights Foundation as well as The Muse & The Marketplace. She is a member of AWP and the MD/DE/WV chapter of SCBWI. Yesenia is working on a YA novel and lives with her family in suburban Maryland.
