Special Guest
G. Brian Karas is the illustrator of over 100 picture books for children, and has written and illustrated several of those. Some of his award winning titles include Home on the Bayou (a Boston Globe-Horn Book Honor book), Young Zeus (Louisiana Young Readers Choice Winner) and IVAN: The Remarkable True Story of the Shopping Mall Gorilla, by Katherine Applegate, a New York Times Bestseller. He began his illustration career as a greeting card artist for Hallmark Cards after graduating from Paier School of Art. He then freelanced as an editorial and advertising illustrator, before his first children’s book was published in 1983. He now lives in the Hudson Valley of New York and divides his time between creating books and advocating for people with mental illness.
