Special Guest Sofiya Pasternack
When Sofiya was six years old, she wrote and illustrated her first story. She has since given up on illustrating, but she kept writing while she lived life.
She joined the US Air Force, got lost in an abandoned mine in California, lived in a haunted house in England, and got entirely too many college degrees. Her current one is a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Psychiatry, which is trying its very hardest to kill her.
In 2017 she submitted her Jewish Russian fantasy to PitchWars, got in, and got an agent! The book published in 2019 and won the Sydney Taylor Book honor for Middle Grade. This was very exciting for Sofiya, and her excitement tripled when she learned this award came with access to exclusive STICKERS.
Sofiya is passionate about sharing the knowledge she’s been squirreling away in her head, especially in the form of speaking to audiences of writers or children (or writers who ARE children!). She’s been a panelist and speaker at several schools, synagogues, and writing conferences, and is eager to add more to her list!
She lives in Utah with her husband, two loud children, and perpetually confused Aussiedoodle puppy.
