Jessixa Bagley is a children’s book author/illustrator as well as a practicing fine artist, and comics creator. She has been making books, drawing pictures, and telling stories since she was a little girl. Jessixa gets her love of books and storytelling inspiration from classic storybooks and her childhood experiences in the Pacific Northwest. Her fine art background and BFA in painting and printmaking informs her art sensibilities. Jessixa has traveled both domestically and internationally for school visits, keynotes, and workshops to speak about her books. Her first picture book, Boats for Papa, has won numerous awards and accolades including the 2016 SCBWI Golden Kite Award for best picture book text and the 2016 Washington State Scandiuzzi Children’s Book Award. Her picture book, Laundry Day, is the winner of a 2018 Ezra Jack Keats Honor Award for Writing. Jessixa’s most recent picture book, Vincent Comes Home, is collaboration with her husband, Aaron Bagley. She lives in Seattle with her husband and son in a castle in the sky surrounded by fake hamburgers.
