Tamar Mays

Tamar Mays joined HarperCollins in 2005 to run Harper’s renowned I Can Read program. Previously she was a bookseller, a children’s book buyer, and the manager of Scholastic’s Lucky School Book Club.

Tamar’s editorial focus is early childhood, from birth to third grade. She still runs the I Can Read program and is proud that many ICRs have been recent Geisel Honorees including Ty’s Travels: Zip Zoom by Kelly Starling Lyons, illustrated by Niña Mata, and Gigi and Ojiji by Melissa Iwai. Tamar has a strong affinity for illustrated work and loves acquiring picture books that work on multiple levels. She would love to have more author-illustrator submissions as well as more work from diverse voices.

Visiting Our Campus

Our campus (The Barn at Boyds Mills) is tucked away in the foothills of the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania.  It's a few hours from both New York City and Philadelphia, but worlds away from everyday life.
