Linda Pratt and her longtime colleague, Marcia Wernick, established the Wernick & Pratt Agency in January 2011 after working together for twenty years at the Sheldon Fogelman Agency. Their focus is not just on individual books, but the long-term careers of their authors and illustrators in the ever-changing world of publishing. Linda came into publishing working on the operations side of things, doing everything from royalty analysis to annual accountings for literary estates. In 1995, she became an agent, which allowed her to finally combine her business acumen with her love of the creative side of creating books, including working with clients editorially. Her clients work in all genres of children’s books—writing and/or illustrating. Among the novelists with whom she works are Richard Peck, Augusta Scattergood, Kathryn Erskine, Sharon G. Flake, and W.H. Beck, among others. Linda is a member of AAR and SCBWI, and for five years she volunteered in the planning of the annual Rutgers One-on-One Mentoring Conference.
