Cyndi Giorgis is a professor of literature education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where she teaches courses in children’s and young-adult literature, multicultural literature, literary theory, and visual literacy. Cyndi has been a member of the Caldecott, Newbery, and Geisel Award committees. She is currently serving on the Orbis Pictus Award for Outstanding Nonfiction committee. Cyndi has been the children’s book reviewer for The Reading Teacher, and she coedited the Journal of Children’s Literature for four years. She is a regular contributor to Book Links magazine and has published widely in a variety of journals, including Language Arts, Social Studies and the Young Learner, and Teaching Children Mathematics. Cyndi has written several professional books, including The Wonder of It All: When Literature and Literacy Intersect, which focuses on sharing literature with children in elementary and secondary classrooms. She is an avid reader and is passionate about books written for children.
