Marilyn Salerno

Marilyn is the SCBWI New England Coordinator. She has been active in SCBWI and writing for the children’s market since 1988. Marilyn, a retired early-childhood teacher, is also an accomplished pianist and an avid tennis player. She frequently teaches the course Writing for the Children’s Market for the Educational Collaborative in Dedham, Massachusetts. Marilyn participates in two monthly SCBWI critique groups and has directed several New England SCBWI conferences. She has attended SCBWI conferences in Los Angeles and New York City as well as workshops on many topics in children’s publishing. Marilyn has published in both the adult and children’s magazine markets. Her stories have appeared in Hopscotch for Girls, Odyssey, Faces, and Cobblestones. She has sold stories for reading assessment programs in two states and has a story published in Reading Strategies for Nonfiction by Curriculum Associates. Marilyn is currently revising a middle-grade novel and two picture books, while working on a humorous middle-grade book. She lives in Holliston, Massachusetts.
