If your dream is to attend a retreat immersed in poetry,
here's your chance! Develop stronger
poetry skills by discussing, writing, revising, and working
on the craft of poetry. This workshop
focuses on the importance of language, clarity and wordplay.
We will use all of the senses to
explore this unique form of writing: observation, optional
nature walks, journaling, quiet writing,
shared writing, and group discussions. Be prepared to dig
deep into the essential elements
of poetry, such as metaphor, imagery, and rhythm. This workshop
does not focus on rhyming
picture-book manuscripts. (You do not need to be published
to apply.)
This workshop offers you the chance to
- focus on both free verse and rhyme;
- experiment with creative writing exercises;
- experiment with poetry forms;
- examine the work of contemporary published poets; and
- participate in group and one-on-one critiques.
PLEASE NOTE: Feel free
to bring 15 copies of up to 6 poems for the group to critique.
Poems
not to exceed 16 lines. |
