Date: March 11–14, 2010
Arrive Thursday, March 11, at 3 PM for a tour of HIGHLIGHTS FOR CHILDREN® and Boyds Mills Press
Depart Sunday, March 14, after lunch

Designed For: Writers with a strong interest in publishing a picture book.

Limited To: 10 participants

Jane Yolen has published well over 100 picture books, including novelty and board books, rhymed books, nonfiction picture books, historical, animal fantasy, concept, folktale retellings, realistic, and poetry collections. Her workshop will include the out-loud reading of a manuscript by each participant, which Jane will take apart and put back together again, all the while referencing the history of the picture book, the editors, and other matters in the publishing world so the participants are ready to go “armored into the marketplace.”

Workshop Fee of $1050 includes cozy, individual cabins; all meals (provided by a top-notch chef); airport pickup service, if needed; and an intimate teaching setting in the living room of the Founders of Highlights for Children!

NOTE: Please mail a picture book manuscript to us by February 18. You may bring a second picture book to the workshop with you.
