Laurence Pringle

Laurence Pringle is an accomplished writer of nonfiction. He has written more than one hundred books for children about animals and insects (Dinosaurs and Their World; Cicadas! Strange and Wonderful; An Extraordinary Life: The Story of a Monarch Butterfly, to name just a few), as well as humanitarian and environmental issues. Larry is the recipient of a lifetime achievement award from the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Other honors include the Eva L. Gordon Award for Children’s Science Literature, the Washington Post/Children’s Book Guild Nonfiction Award, and the Special Conservation Award from the National Wildlife Federation. In 2006, Larry was awarded the Guggenheim Foundation fellowship for science writing. His new book, Billions of Years, Amazing Changes: The Story of Evolution, debuts as a result of this fellowship.
