Cori McCarthy is the author of four young adult novels: The Color of Rain, Breaking Sky, You Were Here, and the forthcoming Now A Major Motion Picture. She is also the coauthor of the forthcoming Once & Future duology (Little, Brown ’19/’20) and the author of Hope Is An Arrow, a nonfiction picture book about Kahlil Gibran (Candlewick ’21). She holds degrees in poetry and screenwriting, as well as an MFA in Writing For Children & Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Breaking Sky received starred reviews from BCCB and School Library Journal and is in development to become a film at Sony Pictures. You Were Here made the Texas Library Association’s Tayshas Reading List and Bank Street’s list of the Best Children’s Books of the Year. It contains mixed format: prose, word art poetry, and graphic novel chapters. Cori is an editor and writing coach with Yellow Bird Editors, and like many of her characters, is a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Cori lives in New England and spends much of her time playing guitar, writing poetry, and chasing her six-year-old son Maverick along with her partner, YA author Amy Rose Capetta.
