Kim T. Griswell

Kim is the developmental editor of children’s books for Portable Press, publisher of Uncle John’s Bathroom Readers and the “Uncle John’s For Kids Only” series. She worked for Highlights, Inc. for nine years, serving as a senior editor for Boyds Mills Press and coordinating editor of Highlights. Throughout that time, she worked with the Highlights Foundation to help raise the level of writing and illustrating for children. Kim’s children’s literature positions include senior editor of Bookbag magazine, book development manager for The Mailbox Book Company, a university and community college instructor, and a teacher with the Institute of Children’s Literature. Kim has taught writing workshops across the country. A prolific writer and committed editor, she has published more than two hundred short stories, articles, and columns. Her books include Rufus Goes to School, Carnivorous Plants, Nonfiction Reading Practice (Grade 3), and many stories in the four-book series, “Short Short Stories for Reading Aloud.” Rufus Goes to Sea, the sequel to Rufus Goes to School, will be published in Spring 2015 by Sterling Children’s Books.
