Nova Ren Suma

Nova Ren Suma writes dark psychological suspense, magical realism, and ghost stories. She is the author of four novels, including the YA novels Imaginary Girls, 17 & Gone, and The Walls Around Us, a ghostly story of suspense that was named the #1 Kids’ Indie Next Pick for Spring 2015 and a Best Book of 2015 byThe Boston Globe, NPR, School Library Journal, the Chicago Public Library, and The Horn Book. Her short story in the YA horror anthology Slasher Girls & Monster Boyswas selected for The Year’s Best YA Science Fiction and Fantasy: Volume Three.

Nova has an MFA in fiction from Columbia University and a BA in writing & photography from Antioch College and has been a fellow in fiction with the New York Foundation for the Arts, the MacDowell Colony, and Yaddo. She has taught YA novel writing workshops at Columbia University, the Your Novel Year program at Arizona State University, Mediabistro, the Djerassi Resident Artists Program, the Writing Barn, and the Highlights Foundation. She now teaches in the low-residency MFA program in Writing for Children & Young Adults at Vermont College of Fine Arts.
